Welcome Mama!

This is where I help you balance healthy living with your REAL mom life!

Getting your family to eat healthy can be a challenge. The sooner you start your kids on the right foods, the easier it can be.

But what if you didn’t? (That was me!) What if you’re now thinking of overhauling your kid’s diet for a healthier one, for whatever reasons?! What if you’re wanting to get away from processed foods with all their additives and preservatives, but just don’t know how? Or maybe you’re dreading the rebellion that will surely ensue once the Oreos and fruit snacks are tossed out?

What if you’re wanting to do it for you?! To get rid of the foggy mom brain, the bloating, and the exhaustion? Because, no, it’s not just MOM BRAIN and it doesn’t have to be your normal.

I hear you, my friend. I’ve been there. For years. My kids didn’t start out on the healthiest foods, either. They got all the packaged, processed, easy grab and go foods. And it wasn’t until baby #2 was a year old and food allergies forced us into a whole new way of living.

Taking it one step at a time when making any kind of change is the best way to make those changes stick. Start with one, conquer it, and then move onto the next. You don’t have to change it all at once.

But where to start?

I’ve got you covered with that. I’ve created some free downloads to help you start your journey to healthier living. Because, really, you just need to start with SOMETHING, and NOT EVERYTHING.

Check out my freebies where you can download 8 easy food swaps that even the kids won’t complain about. Struggling with school lunches? Download a list of ideas for healthy school lunches to take the brainwork out of it. New mama with an infant? Download a free chapter on fevers from my guidebook that walks you through all the common infant health concerns.

Understanding Food Labels

In this post, we’re talking about food labels. Not the part that has you reading portion sizes or counting calories. I’m talking about the part that actually shows what’s in the food when you’re buying a packaged or processed item. Portion size and counting calories are fine if your main goal is to lose weight. But for the overall health of your family, you need to know what’s in your food. You can consume as few or as many calories you want, but the calories don’t tell you how nutritious a food is.

“As a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, I often hear some of the same questions from worry-filled parents. Unfortunately, I’m not always there to answer the questions that parents want answers to right away. This book provides many of those answers and serves as a great reference book for those anxiety inducing issues at home. Whether you’re a new mom or a mom of six, this book is a great refresher course for the first few years of your precious one’s life. The information is solid and the advice is spot on.”

– C. Diedrich – Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner

“Bekah’s A Nurse in Your Purse guidebook is easily digestible! As a new mom, you don’t have a ton of time to read and decipher a scholarly article. Bekah’s guide gives you all the information you need about common worries you’ll have about your baby and writes it in a way that’s easy to understand and navigate. I wish it was something I had as a first time mom AND a second time mom! I probably wouldn’t have called our pediatrician about my son’s eye every other week if I had. Another great thing I like about her A Nurse in Your Purse guide is she’s a mother herself AND a nurse, so I know she not only understands firsthand any worries us new mothers have, she has the medical knowledge to back it up. I’m the kind of person that will spend hours researching an answer, but knowing this guide was developed by a mother for mothers gives me a certain sense of peace. This is definitely something every new mom should have!”
